65 -- DENTAL CASSETTES AND INSTRUMENTS Sol 243-IFB-97-3074. POC Vicky Hawkinson, Contract Specialist, (907) 257-1429. The Alaska Area Native Health Service intends to procure the following requirement, as a sole source acquisition from Hu-Friedy Manufacturing Company, Inc., customized dental cassettes and instruments. All dental cassettes will be custom designed to include customized dental instruments. The dental cassette holders will be constructed to allow sterilization of instruments in the complete cassettes. The dental cassettes will be constructed to allow sterilization of instruments in the complete cassettes. The dental cassettes will be constructed of electropolished surgical grade stainless steel without the use of welds or rivets. Cassettes will have a flow-through hole pattern which allows 32% or better exposure rate to instruments resting on internal rails. Cassette rails for instrument holding and compression made from molded silicone, electropolished stainless steel rails (divider rails) to partition the inside of the cassette. Divider rails shall attach to cassette by means of stainless steel grooved post and e-ring. Cassettes shall consist of two halves of equal height. When cassettes are closed and locked, the halves will be inseparable. When cassettes are open, the two hlves will be able to be separated. Hu-Friedy Manufacturing Company, Inc. will customized instruments in all areas of diagnostic, peridontal, restorative, and surgical. Hu-Friedy Manufacturing Company, Inc. will provide cassettes in procedural set-ups, in specific cassettes with instruments color coded with .5mm code rings to match color of instrument holding rails. Quantity of 573 customized dental Cassettes with the following dimensions: Endodontic Cassette, 8'' x 14.5'' x 1.25''; Operative Cassette, 8'' x 14.5'' x 1.25''; Hygiene Cassette, 7'' x 10.5'' x 1.25''; Curvettes Cassette, 8'' x 8'' x 1.25''; Files Cassette, 8'' x 3'' x 1.25''; After-Five/Rigids Cassette, 8'' x 5.5'' x 1.25''; Emergency Cassette, 8'' x 5.5'' x 1.25''; Exodontia Cassette, 8'' x 5.5'' x 1.25''; Surgery Cassette, 7'' x 10.5'' x 1.25'', Endo Accessories Cassette, 8'' x 11'' x 1.25''. Diagnostic/operative instruments shall have handle diameter equal to 1/4''. Diagnostic explorer tips must be made of duraspond alloy. All other instruments must be manufactured from immunity steel. Periodontal scaling instruments must offer 1/4'' and 15/16'' handle diameters. Surgical forceps must be made from forged steel. All instruments must be offered with lifetime warranty against defects in material and workmanship. Manufacturer must be ISO 9001 certified. Manufacturer shall provide at least four days of in-service training to staff on the specifics of: instrument design and use, cleaning and sterilizing procedures, care and sharpening of instruments.
