COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF DECEMBER 3,1996 PSA#1733Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, 7000 East Avenue, Livermore, CA
94550 A -- LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SEEKS PARTNERSHIPS WITH
INDUSTRY TO COMMERCIALIZE AND MARKET THE MINIATURE ION CYCLOTRON
RESONANCE MASS SPECTROMETER POC: For further information, contact
Industrial Partnerships & Commercialization at (510) 423-3139.
Announcement: The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL),
operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S.
Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking U.S. companies interested in
commercializing the LLNL Miniature Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass
Spectrometer. Laboratory development of this 1995 R&D 100 award-winning
technology is now at the point where licensing and commercialization is
the next logical step. This invention has the next logical step. This
invention has the potential to allow, for the first time, in-situ
monitoring of air streams for contamination products from 3 AMU through
1000 AMU with unit mass resolution and less than 100 atom
sensitivities. Fields of use include but are not limited to: pre-and
post-manufacturing processes, effluent monitoring, environmental air
sampling, and remediation monitoring. This fully self-contained unit
weighs less than 44 pounds, is contained in a briefcase measuring 13''
x 18'' x 6'' and contains a user-friendly PC based computational
system. Design of the entire package has been completed including the
software and electronics. It may be utilized as either an untended,
in-situ sensor package or as a laboratory-based instrument.
Partnerships will be coordinated through the LLNL Industrial
Partnerships and Commercialization Office, LLNL is seeking licensees
with a demonstrated ability to bring such inventions to the market.
Moving critical technology beyond the Laboratory to the commercial
world helps our U.S. licensees gain a competitive edge in the
marketplace. The University of California's Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory can license technology through exclusive or nonexclusive
licensing agreements, as appropriate. All projects are conducted under
policies relating to the strict nondisclosure of company proprietary
information. Note: This is not a procurement. If you are interested in
working with LLNL on the Miniature Ion Cyclotron Resonance Mass
Spectrometer, please respond in writing within 30 days of this
announcement. Note that any or all of the portions of this patented
technology can be licensed, or developed further through partnerships.
Provide a brief (two-page maximum) description of company history,
experience in the field, present position in the market, and ability to
commercialize this technology. Please send this information to Lawrence
Livermore National Laboratory. Industrial Partnerships and
