The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to negotiate a Purchase Order with AssistWare Technology for the purchase of a Lateral Positioning System to be installed on a commercial vehicle. This is an integrated hardware/software lane position and curvature estimation system capable of tracking the road under a wide range of environmental and pavement conditions while also warning the driver when the vehicle is moving out of the lane. This system is designed to interface with an electronic steering actuation system that will allow the vehicle steering function to be fully automated.
