703-602-8200 The Naval Sea Systems Command will be procuring a
non-developmental, open-circuit Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus
(SCBA) for fire fighting equipment using one or more Blanket Purchasing
Agreement(s) (BPA) under existing General Services Administration (GSA)
Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) Multiple Award Contracts. The SCBA shall
fully comply with, and be certified to, Title 42 of the Federal Code
of Regulations (42 CFR), Part 84, Subpart H, and shall comply with the
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1981. The SCBA is
in the Federal Supply Class (FSC) Group 42, Part I, Section B, of the
GSA FSS. The Estimated order quality for the first BPA is 400 SCBAs and
800 spare cylinders for which delivery will be required no later than
November 1997. During the ordering period, the Government may contact
competitions for additional BPAs covering the Navy SCBAs. NAVSEA
ultimately intends to outfit the fleet with the new SCBAs for
approximately 21,000 SCBAs and 50,000 spare cylinders. NAVSEA will hold
an industry briefing for all interested parties at 1200 p.m. on
