(301) 975-6330 THIS IS A MODIFICATION TO A CBD SYNOPSIS THAT APPEARED
IN THE 21 NOVEMBER 1996 ISSUE OF THE COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY. The
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to
purchase either a new or reconditioned Faraday cup multicollector array
for the MAT 252 Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer; manufactured by
Finnigan MAT. The insert is necessary for the analysis of krypton (m/e
78, 80, 82, 83, 84, and 86). The new or reconditioned upgrade
(detector array) shall be configured for stable krypton isotopes The
following performance characteristic required for this upgrade is: For
samples larger than 1 mL (STP), zero-enrichment measurements of
krypton mass ratios 86/84 and 82/84 shall have precisions (standard
deviations) of 0.002% (percent) or lower, using routine dual inlet
measurements (at least 10 intercalated measurements of sample and
