22310-3398 A -- PULSED POWER COMPONENT DEVELOPMENT SOL DSWA01-97-C-0011 POC Damon
Q. McClure, Negotiator, (703) 325-1198, Daniel R. Gonzales, Contracting
Officer, (703) 325-6684. The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is
seeking to support the refinement of inductive energy storage
technology in x-ray simulator applications. This effort is needed to
improve simulator technology by developing more efficient pulsed power
sources. This is to be accomplished by improving the performance of
key inductive energy storage components such as plasma opening switches
as well as associated power flow techniques. It focuses on improvements
in basic pulsed power conditioning subsystems such as Marx generators
and transfer capacitors. Specifically, DSWA is seeking to develop and
experimentally validate DECADE module pulsed power enhancements to
improve current delivered to a standard BRS front end by a factor of
1.5 -- 2 over present levels. The enhancements considered by the
contractor shall include, but not be limited to: improved Marx bank
design, capacitor upgrades, Marx insulator upgrades, improved transfer
capacitor design, performance, or elimination. Personnel will require
a DoDsecurity clearance of SECRET. Contemplated period of performance
is 36 months. Requests for copies of RFP must be submitted in writing,
or by fax at (703) 325-9294 and include a point of contact, phone
number and fax number. All responsible sources will be considered. For
information contact Damon McClure at (703) 325-1198. Information on
DSWA solicitations, already released, can be obtained by calling the
DSWA Hotline at (703) 325-1173. As of 31 May 96, Acquisition Management
has added "Procurement Opportunities" to the DSWA Home Page available
on the World Wide Web. Information will include this synopsis and more.
