T -- ON-SITE VENDOR REPRODUCTIONS OF STILL PHOTOGRAPHS, AERIAL FILM, MAPS, AND DRAWINGS BY PHOTOGRAPHIC MEANS AND/OR DIGITAL SCANNING POC William T. Murphy, (301) 713-7083. The National Archives and Records Administration will hold a public meeting with vendors on Tuesday, January 21, 1997, to discuss the continued privatization of reproduction services for still pictures, aerial film, maps, and drawings from the Still Picture Branch, Cartographic and Architectural Branch, and the Nixon Presidential Materials Staff. This project began on March 6, 1995 for a one-year trial period. The purpose of this trial period was to, (1) verify the degree to which the privatization of the reproduction order fulfillments of the three units could improve customer service; and (2) to ascertain the extent to which digital scanning can satisfy requirements from NARA's customers. NARA has decided to extend the program for another year, beginning March 6, 1997. With the exception of a few changes that will be discussed at the meeting, NARA will continue to privatize the reproduction of these archival materials by allowing customers to place their orders directly with vendors. NARA will also maintain work space for vendors in its new building in College Park, Maryland, in order that the materials can be copied on its premises. All vendors interested in this program, including vendors already participating, are invited to attend the next scheduled meeting on January 21, 1997, at 10 a.m. A follow-up meeting has also been scheduled from interested vendors, and to distribute copies of a Memorandum of Agreement which governs terms of the work. The meetings will be held at the National Archives at College Park, lecture rooms D and E, located at 8601 Adelphi Road, College Park, Maryland. (0365)
