78150-4525 70 -- AWACS MODELING AND SIMULATION (AMS) TRAINING SYSTEMS
COMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT SOL F41691-97-R0008 DUE 021797 POC DEE BRAME,
tel:(210) 652-5117, KATHY J. WILLIAMS, Contracting Officer, tel:(210)
652-5117 12 CONS/LGCX, RANDOLPH AFB TX 78150-4525, intends to acquire
on a sole-source basis through Advanced Simulation Technology inc.
(ASTi), 441A Carlisle Dr., Herdon VA 22070, a simulated communications
system for the Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) Modeling
and Simulation (AMS) Training System. The AMS systems will provide
initital training to AWACS Weapons Directors and will be installed at
the 325th Training Support Squadron located at Tyndall Air Force Base.
The system will consist of 36 Silicon Graphics Inc (SGI) Indigo II XL
workstations which are interoperable with themselves, four F-15 Full
Mission Trainers (also at Tyndall AFB), as well as other simulation
systems at various AFBs using Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS)
protocol. AMS will also have theability to interact with aircraft via
UHF radio. The simulated communications hardware and software being
purchased must, therefore, allow students to communicate with each
other, the simulation, the pseudo pilots, and/or the pilotsin live
aircraft simultaneously. The AMS communication system will be required
to interface, via a patch panel, with Dave Clark headsets and
microphones (located at each of the 36 workstations), 10 real UHF
radios, and nine simulated UHF radios located remote from the AMS.
Interface consists of line level audio in and out of the SGI
workstations, as weel as, physical push-to-talk interfaces. It is
essential that this equipment be compatiable with the three dimensional
Audio Distribution System (ADS) patch panel (similar to the one on the
AWACS aircraft) and the SGI hardware, be based on digital signal
processing (DSP) technology, meet all of the DIS protocols as
identified by the Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
1278, and service 32 active DIS and/or real transmitters and receivers
simultaneously. The simulated communications equipment consists of
central switching unit, ethernet interfaces, intercom switching
software, voice networking software, radio environmnet software,
monitor and keyboard software, remote interface units, DI/DO cards, and
special purpose computer to control interface between real UHF radios
and simulate radios. This hardware and software must also have
established interoperability with all other DIS communication
implementations such as the Mu-law and CVSD compression for the
SINCGARS Radio Model (SRM) and must be compatiable with ASTi equipment
running on other government simulations planned for interface with the
AMS systems. Requested DEL 30 days. All requests for solicitations
shall be made in writing or by facsimile (210-652-4673), within 30 days
of publication of this notice. Telephone requests will not be accepted.
