approximate date. This is a justified sole source requirement to
Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC), 2720 Gateway Drive, Suite 310, Sacto, CA
95833, for renewal of on-site, technical software support services at
McClellan AFB, CA, for All-In-1 software and layered products;
Pathworks networking; VAX/VMS operating system and the Local Area VAX
Cluster, Windows NT operating system and all associated products
including, but not limited to, Microsoft Mail and Microsoft Exchange;
Ethernet and FDDI networks including, but not limited to, network
management tasks, protocol support, troubleshooting and network server
management. The base network and computer cluster incorporate state of
the art configurations which are complex, extremely large, and unique
to McClellan AFB, CA. These configurations and various elements of the
Network software, Pathworks software, and All-In-1 software have been
custom modified by DEC, on site. Proprietary software systems and
applications management support is also required for the basewide
office information and LAN server system hosted on a five node VAX
cluster. Offeror's believing they can provide the above requirement
shall have expertise in IEEE 802.3 ethernet management, IEEE 802.7 FDDI
management, numerous ethernet supported network protocols
(CP/IP/DECNet, LAT, LAD and LAST) and network management systems (NMCC
and SNMP). In addition to on-site experts, the Government requires
access to the product development engineer level of expertise and to
the proprietary microcode and software for the DEC VAX cluster
systems/software, and the Government Pathworks personal computer
network operating system. The Government does not possess technical
data. Contractor shall service. The principal period of maintenance
(PPM) is an eight hour period, 6:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with one hour for
lunch, Monday-Friday, excluding legal Federal holidays. The contractor
may be required to work up to 20% of their hours, each month, outside
to provide off-hour support tasks. Software installation may be
required. FOB Destination required. Period of Performance: 97 Apr 01
through 97 Sep 30, six months. This is an "all or none" requirement.

data at the time. Actual solicitation requirements may differ. An
Ombudsman has been established for this acquisition. The only purpose
of the Ombudsman is to receive and communicate serious concerns from
potential offerors when an offeror prefers not to use established
channels to communicate his/her concern during the proposal development
phase of this acquisition. Potential offerors should use established
channels to request information, pose questions and voice concerns
before resorting to use of the Ombudsman. Potential offerors are
