Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratories are jointly seeking sources to develop key (critical path) technologies necessary to accelerate availability of balanced 10-to-30 teraFLOPS system environments, which are configured from commercially available hardware/software building blocks, during the 1999 to 2001 time-frame. The technical approaches and time frames are crucial to the success of the PathForward Project, which is a component of the Accelerated Strategic Computing Initiative (ASCI). Areas of particular interest include scalable high-performance interconnects, distributed parallel operating system software, parallel scalable programming environment and ultra-scale high-performance storage and parallel I/O systems. Interested firms must respond in accordance with the Request for Expression of Interest letter (also viewable at the website)that requires a response describing the relevance and practicality of the key technologies of interest for development and the capabilities, experience, facilities and techniques which are necessary for the work.
