Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory and Sandia National
Laboratories are jointly seeking sources to develop key (critical path)
technologies necessary to accelerate availability of balanced 10-to-30
teraFLOPS system environments, which are configured from commercially
available hardware/software building blocks, during the 1999 to 2001
time-frame. The technical approaches and time frames are crucial to the
success of the PathForward Project, which is a component of the
Accelerated Strategic Computing Initiative (ASCI). Areas of particular
interest include scalable high-performance interconnects, distributed
parallel operating system software, parallel scalable programming
environment and ultra-scale high-performance storage and parallel I/O
systems. Further information is available on a WWW Internet site at
http://www.llnl.gov/asci-pathforward. Interested firms must respond in
accordance with the Request for Expression of Interest letter (also
viewable at the website)that requires a response describing the
relevance and practicality of the key technologies of interest for
development and the capabilities, experience, facilities and techniques
which are necessary for the work. Responses are required on or before
February 18, 1997. Facsimile and telephone responses will not be
accepted. This notice is to assist the ASCI Laboratories in identifying
