19 -- AUXILIARY DRY CARGO (ADC) SHIP MATERIAL HANDING SYSTEM WORKSHOP MEETING 4-6 MARCH 1997. FOCUS ON NEW TECHNOLOGY TO BE APPLIED TO FUTURE UNDERWAY REPLENISHMENT MISSION, PARTICULARLY CARGO STOWAGE AND HANDLING AREAS Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) representatives will host an ADC(X) Mission Systems Workshop on 4-6 March 1997 in Norfolk, Virginia. Participants will include representatives from Combat Logistics Force (CLF) ships, Naval fleet and shore activities, shipbuilders and the material handling industry. The purpose of the ADC(X) Mission Systems Workshop is to provide participants with an overview of the current hold to transfer deck operations and capabilities on CLF ships and identify those problems which exist today. Additionally, workshop participants will discuss potential areas of improvement, including the use of new technology to increase effectiveness, reduce life cycle costs and reduce manning. While the workshop will cover the area from the cargo holds to the Underway Replenishment (UNREP) transfer stations, application of improved technology in the cargo stowage and handling areas is of particular interest.
