The 14th Annual Conference of the International Committee of the National Security Industrial Association (NSIA) will be held on 25-26 February 1997 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel, Arlington, Virginia. This annual conference, held with the cooperation of the Departments of Defense, State, and Commerce, will feature very senior officials of each department who will discuss the various policies and practices of the government which impact on the ability of U.S. defense industry companies to conduct business outside the United States. Confirmed guest speakers include: The Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology, Executive Vice President of Boeing Defense and Space Group; Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs; Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industrial Affairs; Executive Vice President of TASC, Inc.; and the Assistant Secretary General of NATO. Panels of government officials, industrial and academic leaders, and representatives of foreign governments will address such important and diverse topics as: Degree of interagency cooperation in promoting U.S. defense trade; Unilateral sanctions/restrictions on defense trade; Latin America Update -- the prospects for U.S. defense trade; and, Reciprocal defense trade issues -- the "Climate for Cooperation." This conference provides the opportunity for a unique industry-government interface on issues which impact the U.S. defense industry in its efforts to compete in the international market. Key decision makers will discuss policies and explain the reasoning that led to them. Audience members will, in turn, have the opportunity to provide input to these decision makers.
