407-867-7230 The work to be performed under this project consists of
providing the labor, equipment, and materials to perform modifications
to the existing Bridge Carnes in Hangar AF at the Cape Canaveral Air
Station, FL. Modifications will be made on both existing cranes. Each
cranes has a single underhung trolley supporting one 40-ton hoist and
two 10-ton auxillary hoists. Modifications to all six hoists and
acceptance testing of completed work includes the following: Replacing
existing hoist motors (6 total) with a new motor equipped with a rear
mounted disc brake, addition of new weighted upper limit switches on
each hoist, existing pendant control station shall have a key-switch
added for manually resetting the new upper limit switches. New pendant
control cables will be installed. Modifications to the ladder logis of
the controller is required and control and power wiring is required to
comlete all of the above items. Plan to issue solicitation package on
or before 1/22/97. Magnitude of project is between $250,000 and
$500,000. Period of performance: 240 calendar days after notice to

ombudsman has been appointed to hear concerns from offerors, potential
offerors, and contractors during the preaward and postaward phases of
this acquisition -- The purpose of the ombudsman is not to diminish
the authority of the contracting officer or the selection official, but
to communicate concerns, issues, disagreements, and recommendations of
interested parties to the appropriate Government personnel and to work
to resolve them -- When requested, the ombudsman will maintain strict
confidentiality as to the source of the concern -- The ombudsman does
not participate in the evaluation of quotes, the source selection
process, or the adjudication of formal contract disputes -- Interested
parties are invited to call the installation ombudsman, Mr. J. A.
Thomas at 407-867-2355. Concerns, issues, disagreements, and
recommendations which cannot be resolved at the installation may be
