United Defense LP (UDLP), Armament Systems Division, under Prime Contract DAAE30-95-C-0009, is the prime contractor for the development of the Crusader System, a new self-propelled howitzer (SPH) and resupply vehicle (RSV). UDLP is considering procurement of flat panel displays. This is a Request For Information (RFI) to determine the availability of products (i.e., off-the-shelf) to support the requirements of the Crusader program, including transitions from a benchtop commercial grade product, to a ruggedized version suitable for vehicle demonstration/validation, to an objective production version. It is anticipated that there will be three (3) displays per vehicle with an eventual production run of approximately 1650 vehicles. UDLP seeks flat panel color displays for use in a tactical ground vehicle (wide temperature range, watertight, etc. [reference MIL-STD-810D as guidance]) environment, with low power, weight, and volume requirements. Displays must be in the 12-14" diagonal range, with 1024 x 768 resolution (minimum), and 6-bits per color (minimum). Features under consideration include night vision compatibility, sunlight readability, touch screen capability, and built-in intelligence. Vendors must identify available interface capabilities for intelligent and non-intelligent displays. Provide information regarding the above and include lead time, ROM pricing, and near-term upgrade plans. UDLP will use the responses to this RFI to identify capable sources for future solicitations.
