The National Institute of Standards & Technology plans a Sole Source Award to RITEC, Inc. for the following reason: The RAM-5000 SNAP System for resonance measurements has been requested to aid in materials characterization. It is a custom built instrument designed to our specifications. It takes advantage of new developments in the design of the gated and superhetrodyne amplifiers. Since this instrument is being jointly developed by NIST & RITEC (as per the CRADA CN-705) the new design results from initial tests conducted with the instrument at NIST. Since RITEC, Inc. has provided the basic design of the instrument, they are the only known supplier of this particular improved instrument. Therefore, we have selected RITEC, Inc. as the sole responsible source for the RAM-5000 SNAP instrument. Specifications 1. 6.2 KW into a 7.3 ohm load; 2. 5 ms pulse length with only a 20% sag in output; 3. 150 kHz to 20 MHz frequency range; 4. superhetrodyne receiver with two outputs in quadrature; 5. signal integration at the output; 6.
