COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 14,1997 PSA#1761William J. Hughes Technical Center, Contracts Branch, ACT-51B, Atlantic
City International Airport, NJ 08405 66 -- ION MOBILITY SPETROMETER/MASS SPECTROMETER SYSTEM SOL
DTFA03-97-R-00009 DUE 021297 POC Jose Benitez, Contracting Specialist,
ACT-51B, 609-485-6127. The FAA has a need for integrating a research
grade PCP-110 Ion Mobility Spectrometer with an Extrel Merlin Single
Quadropole Mass Spectrometer for analytical applications dealing with
explosives characterization. These instruments have already been
acquired by the FAA but they do not include a vacuum system, a data
system, and an HPLC liquid interface system which are necessary for the
operation of both instruments concurrently. The FAA has conducted an
informal market survey to determine if there are any sources that can
provide a complete IMS-MS analytical system for the components that
have already been specified. Currently only one manufacturer has been
found that can perform this service based on existing product
literature for similar equipment manufactured and services rendered in
the past. The sole brand name that has been identified for meeting the
FAA needs of IMS-MS analysis for explosives is the PCP MMS-160 system
manufactured by PCP, Inc. Interested parties believing to be capable of
providing this system may send their request for the Screening
Information Request (SIR) package. The request shall be in writing (may
be faxed at 609-485-6766) and shall include descriptive literature
explaining the capabilities of the equipment being offered. No requests
will be accepted after January 22, 1997. In the event of lack or
response for this announcement, it is the intent of the FAA to
negotiate with PCP Inc., of West Palm Beach, Florida on a sole source
basis. (0010) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0303 19970114\66-0012.SOL)
