Center -- Washington Operations Office anticipates the issuance of a
Draft Specification, Draft Cost Model and Draft Evaluation Criteria for
the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) acquisition. This constitutes
the second issuance of a draft document related to the RFID
acquisition. Draft RFP, Solicitation DAHC94-96-R-0005, was issued in
August 1996. The RFID program involves the acquisition of commercially
available RFID equipment to perform worldwide fixed and transportable
identification, as well as tracking functions, for the Department of
Defense, the Coast Guard, and other government agencies. The hardware
requirements include active and passive radio frequency transponders,
active and passive interrogators (fixed, transportable, hand-held),
radio frequency relays, PC memory cards, transit cases, cables and
connectors. On-site technical engineering support services at various
government sites worldwide will also be acquired to include services
required for RFID component integration, site analysis, installation,
de-installation, relocation, problem solving for software,
communications, interfacing between other Government systems and
hardware engineering services, and development of limited application
software. An indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) type
contract is contemplated. Anticipated release date for this second
issuance is 31 January 1997. The draft documentation will be made
available ONLY on the CECOM Acquisition Center -- Washington Bulletin
Board System and Worldwide Web HomePage. Users with modems may dial

parameters should be no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and full
