MEDIUM CALIBER SHELLS MARKET SURVEY ANNOUNCEMENT This is a survey limited to U.S. and Canadian firms only. 13 -- MEDIUM CALIBER SHELLS, 20MM, 30MM AND 40MM. tHIS IS A MARKET SURVEY OF U.S. and Canadian industry to identify potential contractors capable of manufacturing medium caliber shells to support the Government's preparedness needs for the following items. The minimum monthly requirement must be met, but this quantity can be met by more than one potential producer. They follow in the following order: ITEM, PART NUMBER, MINIMUM MONTHLY REQUIREMENT:shell 20MM HEI M56A3/4/5, 7259231, 1,377, Shell 20MM AP-T M95, 12576577, 5,684, Shell 20MM HEI M97A2F/M210, 7259066, 20,192, Shell 20MM HEI-T SD M246, 10542425, 556, Shell 20MM TP-T M221, 7259148, 432, Shell 30MM HEDP M789, 11825955, 32,778, Shell 40MM HEDP M430, 12926812, 802,726, Shell 40MM HEDP M433, 8886372, 69,100, Shell 40MM TAC CS M651, C122-2-8, 6,640. Specific skills and equipment required to manufacture subject shells are as follows: milling/boring/tapping/die cast machines, vertical presses, lathes, grinders, heat treat/annealing furnaces, set-up mechanics, process engineers, heat treat specialist and quality assurance specialist capable in using a wide variety of inspection equipment. A respondent must also have available the appropriate maintenance, tooling, and manufacturing engineering skills required to support quality production for these items. A respondent must currently possess a majority of these processes in-house and demonstrateprovisions of obtaining the remainder without significant delay. Technical data does exist for these items. A detailed questionnaire, including top drawing data, may be provided to capable respondents. Interested firms who feel they are capable of manufacturing these items, based on the above criteria, are invited to indicate their interest by providing to the Government a summary of their company's capabilities, including a description of facilities, personnel, and past manufacturing experiences. Information must be sumbitted within 20 calendar days from the sate of this publication to U.S. Army Industrial Operations Command, Attn: AMSIO-IRC/Mr. Nick Huyten, Rock Island, IL 61299-6000, (309)782-2220. This is a market survey for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligated on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited. The information you provide will be utilized by the U.S. Army in developing its acquisition approach for future requirements.
