COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 14,1997 PSA#1761ADA SOFTWARE DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS The National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) is seeking information, on behalf of the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (NRC), about software diagnostic tools. The NRC
examines source code in nuclear power plant safety systems during the
licensing process. The NRC is interested in finding commercially
available tools that can locate and provide information about the
following programming practices that may be used in Ada source code:
Dynamic Memory Allocation, Control Flow Complexity, Initialization,
Interface Ambiguities, Data Typing, Program Instrumentation, Class
Library Size, Dynamic Binding, Operator Overloading, Tasking, Interrupt
Driven Processing, Automatic Memory Management, Local Handling of
Exceptions, External Flow Control, Uniform Exception Handling, Input
and Output Data Checking, Compiled Libraries, Generic Units, Mixed
Language Programming, Obscure or Subtle Programming Constructs,
Literals, Renaming, Global Variables, Complexity of Interfaces, Single
Purpose Function andProcedures, Single Purpose Variables. If you would
like more information please send E-mail to tools@nist.gov before
January 29, 1997. This information is specific to ADA; vendors who
previously responded with information on C and C++ tools need to
respond again. If you do not have Internet access, please respond by
letter to Laura Ippolito at NIST, Building 820, Room 517, Gaithersburg,
Md. 20899, and include your name, organization, division, address,
phone, fax, and the types of tools your company produces. WEB: NIST
