The work of this project consists of installing a minimum two-foot thick concrete cutoff wall within the Dam Embankment and within Dike 1, and installing an upstream random fill blanket and a downstream drainage blanket between Dike 2 and 3. Both cutoff walls shall extend into sound bedrock. The cutoff wall for the Dam Embankment is approximately 2,075 feet in length. The cutoff wall for Dike 1 is approximately 1,300 feet in length. Major items of work for this project include constructing test sections of the cutoff wall, constructing the cutoff walls, constructing the random fill and drainage blankets, constructing bituminous concrete pavement, underground electrical and telephone lines, duct banks and manholes, constructing access and haul roads and staging areas, installing a temporary pedestrian access way at the gate house, removing the top ten feet of the Dam Embankment and the upstream slope protection of Dike 1 to create a work bench, reinstalling the top ten feet of the Dam Embankment complete with underground electrical and telephone lines, duct banks, manholes, guard rails, instrumentation, and shelter, reinstalling the upstream slope protection at Dike 1, and removal of the temporary access, haul roads, and staging areas. Other items of work include removing and disposing of an underground fuel oil tank and contents and associated contaminated soil (if any), removing existing overhead electrical and telephone service, replacing an existing cable log boom, and site restoration and cleanup. Estimated cost of work is more than $10,000,000.00. Work shall be completed within 730 calendar days. Plans and specifications available on or about 012897 at a cost of $45.00 per set.
