84 -- CLEAN ROOM GARMENTS SOL F08650-97-T-4834 DUE 031297 POC Lear Matus, Contract Buyer (407) 494-9512/Jimmy McDaniel, Contracting Officer (407) 494-7227 The government has a requirement for clean room garments to be custom made to government specifications for use in non-hazardous operations. Quantities: 200 hoods (40 medium, 90 large, 70 extra large); 500 coveralls (100 medium, 125 large, 187 extra large, 50 2X large, 20 3X large, 6 4X large, 6 5X large, 6 6X large); and 1,950 pairs of booties (100 small, 800 medium, 800 med/large, 150 large, 100 extra large). Garments shall meet such requirements as thread count, weave, weight, permeability, strength, shrinkage, color, and static dissipation. The hood shall have a detachable breathing mask insert made of a double layer of quilted transparent mesh with a minimum finished measurement of 12 inches by 12 inches. The hood shall have enough material length to drape over the front and back of the upper body, but not drape over the shoulders. There shall be an elastic band sewn behind the neck across the full width of the back of the hood to provide a better fit. The open portion of the hood around the eyes shall be wide enough to accommodate personnel wearing glasses. The insert shall be attached to the hood with snaps at each side and bottom with a minimum of three snaps on each side of the insert to provide user adjustment. A double layer of the transparent mesh shall also be utilized for the ear cover inserts. All edging around the hood, ear, and face inserts shall be finished. The coveralls shall have cuffs of monofilament, 100% polyester knit. Cuff shall be sewn at the wrist to provide closure, and all edges finished where cuff attaches to sleeve. The cuff shall be 3" long by 3-1/4" wide (finished measurements) and material be doubled over before cuff is attached to coverall. There shall be no leg closures. A self-locking Delrin zipper or equivalent, on polyester tape, shall be used to close the main body of the garment and a protective flap of material shall be sewn to the garment along the length of the zipper. The collar shall be of military style with no lapel. There shall be a badge pocket sewn on theleft front of the coverall made of a double layer of transparent mesh (Chemstat 929 or equivalent). The pocket shall be 4'1/4" long by 3'1/4" wide and right hand seam shall be 3" to the left of the seam of the protective flap for the main body zipper. The top seam of the pocket shall be 6" below the shoulder seam of the coverall. A self-locking Delrin zipper or equivalent on polyester tape, shall be used to close the top of the pocket and a protective flap of material shall be sewn to the garment along the length of the zipper. The collar shall be of military style with no lapel. There shall be a badge pocket sewn on the left front of the coverall made of a double layer of transparent mesh (Chemstat 929 or equivalent). The pocket shall be 4'1/4" long by 3'1/4" wide and right hand seam shall be 3" to the left of the seam of the protective flap for the main body zipper. The top seam of the pocket shall be 6" below the shoulder seam of the coverall. (All measurements represent finished product). A self-locking Delrin zipper or equivalent on polyester tape, shall be used to close the top of the pocket and a protective flap of material shall cover the pocket zipper. The protective flap shall be made of the coverall material and shall not be sewn down to the coverall on the sides. The coverall sleeves shall be Raglan. The high-top booties shall be high enough to cover the calf of the leg; various heights for size bootie. A 2-1/2" wide band of elastic with an internal bungie cord shall be at the top hem of the bootie. This bungie cord shall be fixed at one end (sewn into the zipper seam) and captured on the other with a Delrin lock for easy adjustment of the bootie. A 3/4" wide elastic band shall be sewn to the interior of the instep and around behind the ankle, providing easy adjustment for fit. No exterior straps are acceptable. A 3/4" piece of elastic will be set across the toe 5" from front center of boot. A self-locking Delrin zipper on polyester tape shall be sewn on the back of the bootie leg and extend the fulllength. A protective flap of materials shall be sewn to the bootie along the length of the zipper. A pull tab at the heel, inside the zipper, shall be added to assist in putting on the bootie. This pull tab shall be made from a white 3/4" filament polyester webbing folded over to form a loop. The bootie sole shall be designed to contour the foot and extend upwards approximately 1" to provide a better fit and added support. The sole shall also be non-grooved and continuous in design. A 1" (finished measurement) polyester tape will be sewn into the top edge of the bootie sole as a reinforcement to the sole/bootie material seam. Special consideration shall be given to the wear life/durability of the bootie sole during normal use. A reinforced toe and heel covering made of Sterns and Sterns 939T (tape) shall be installed across the toe from the end of the toe up approximately 2 inches and from the back of the heel up approximately 2 inches. A sample garment will be provided with quote for government evaluation of contractor design and compliance to specifications. Sample to be provided at no cost to the government and returned after contract award. This acquisition is 100% set aside for small business. The applicable SIC code and size standard are 2399/500 employees. Solicitation issue date of 30 Jan 97 and RFQ due date of 12 Mar 97 are tentative.
