16 -- MODIFICATION OF F-14 TRAINERS SOL N00019-94-C-0062 POC Contact, Jennifer M. Chropuvka, Phone (703)604-6100 The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIRSYSCOM) intends to modify Contract N00019-94-C-0062 with the Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC). This effort consists of the modification of two existing F-14B Upgrade Integrated Weapon Systems Maintenance Trainers (IWSMT) to operate additionally in the F-14A configuration as well as the incorporation of the Embedded Global Positioning System (GPS) Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) (EGI). Incorporation of the EGI system will permit training of the new navigation system in time for Fleet introduction. NGC is the sole designer and manufacturer of the F-14 aircraft and the F-14B Upgrade trainers. NGC also is incorporating the EGI in the F-14 aircraft. NGC is the only known source who possesses the required expertise and knowledge to provide the effort within the timeframe required. See note No. 22 -- NAVAIR Synopsis No. 20013-97. (0014)
