Carrington, (202) 767-2550 The Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for Fast 2000 flow immunoassay system (5 ea.)and coupons; and MANTIS portable assay system (2 ea.). These are field-portable instruments for use with antibody-based assays developed at NRL for explosive detection. The fast 2000 flow system must be able to detect 0.005 ppb of a fluorescent tag in a 100 uL sample in under 60 secs. The system must be extremely small and plug into a PCMCIA slot of a portable computer. The system must be compatible with the NRL flow immunoassay and can be battery operated. The permeable membrane must be housed in a disposable plastic coupon containing integral disposable valves for directing flow. The MANTIS portable assay system must be capable of sample collection, transfer and assay water samples based on stored protocols. It must be able to store 64 assay recipes. It must be small and lightweight (12 lbs; 19 cm x 27 cm x 17 cm.). It must be able to do 4 probe assays performed simultaneously on disposable probes/coupons. Detection sensitivities must be 1-10 ppb fluorescent tag in under 10 min. It must have RS232 bidirectional link and RF telemetry capability. It must be able to operate on battery for 8 hours (continuous). Negotiations is anticipated with Research International, Inc., 18706 142nd Avenue NE, Woddenville, WA 98072.
