COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 16,1997 PSA#1763National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Acquisition Services Center, 1617
Cole Boulevard, Golden, CO 80401-3393 A -- THIN FILM PV PARTNERSHIP SOL Synopsis No. 7-373 POC Marilyn B.
Wood, Subcontract Administrator, Acquisition Services Center, (303)
384-7457. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory anticipates issuing
an LOI in May 1997 for the performance of research and development by
the U.S. PV industry and universities concerning thin film PV, namely
CdTe, CuInSe2 and related alloys (CuGaInSe2, CuGaInSSe2), amorphous
silicon, and crystalline silicon film on foreign substrates, leading to
the demonstration of high efficiency, low-cost photovoltaic solar cells
and modules. The primary objective of the research and development will
be to accelerate the development of large area, prototype thin film
modules (900-cm2, 1ft2 and larger) suitable for future low cost,
commercial production. Work will include device design, materials
research, innovative characterization, process development, module
integration, and reliability testing supporting the above objective.
Cooperative research among U.S. companies, universities and NREL will
be encouraged. Multiple awards for three years are contemplated,
subject to the availability of funding from U.S. DOE through annual
Federal appropriations. Some restrictions on participation will apply.
(Please see the actual LOI for details.) This CBD is not a request for
proposals. Telephone requests will not be honored. Interested parties
are encouraged to request a copy of the LOI from Marilyn B. Wood, NREL,
at the above address. (0014) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0013 19970116\A-0013.SOL)
