0-7-ZZ-ZZ-ZZ-A13 DUE 031497 POC Nathan Sternberg, 202-927-7469,
202-283-1478/1487 The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is seeking sources
who can provide commercial-off-the-shelf products for any of the
following four systems; 1) A Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
backbone electronic messaging transport system with a reliable message
delivery and audit trail capabilities; 2) a backbone reliable
Electronic Message Handling System with clients and servers; 3) a
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) System and 4) an X.500
conformant Directory Services System. The IRS will provide all
interested vendors, upon request, with a copy of the requested
specification to use in determining whether your product meets our
requirement. The IRS will base its initial evaluation on the following
criteria: 1) Conformance to specifications; 2) Level of support
required; 3) Platforms supported; 4) Performance figures submitted; 5)
Realizability definitions and 6) Ease of installation. All interested
vendors must submit the following information for each system they are
responding to within 60 days of this notice: 1) Descriptive technical
literature on the products, including information on the products
supported platforms and operating systems and technical architecture;
2) Statement of technical conformance to the specifications; 3)
Statement of products commercial availability plus current catalogs; 4)
vendors amenability to loaning the offered products to the IRS, at no
cost, for testing, and 4) Any other pertinent documentation that will
assist the IRS. Vendors will be notified in writing, within 30 days
after completion of the evaluations/testing of the results. It is the
IRS's intention to maintain a current bidder's list for these products
that will be updated either quarterly or semi-annually. Selection for
testing will neither provide vendors with an advantage nor preclude
them from bidding on related future procurements. At this time, there
is neither a solicitation package available nor is one anticipated in
the near future. (0014) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0042 19970116\D-0012.SOL)
