has a requirement for at 36 month research effort to identify, analyze
and demonstrate innovative approaches, techniques and equipment for
steel bridge paint system maintenance. This project includes: (1)
Analysis of the current state-of-the-art in bridge maintenance painting
technology; (2) Development of a research matrix which reflects the
available innovative methods and materials for bridge maintenance
painting operations; (3) Testing and evaluation of candidate materials
and processes in-situ; and (4) Report of findings through both oral
reports and the composition of a technical article suitable for
publication in a national scientific journal. It is anticipated that an
RFP will be issued in mid-February. This requirement is designated for
