USDA, ARS, RRC intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source, Foss Food Technology Corp., to provide, install, and startup technical support for an Aroma Scanner 32 Sensor Array System. Specifications include: (1) number of sensors greater than 30, (2) overlap of sensitivity, (3) upgradeable, (4) single micro-chip, (5) semi conductor polymer resin sensors, (6) sample analyzed ambient temperature, (7) temperature and humidity control of samples during preparation and measurement, (8) sample integrity maintained, (9) no hazardous materials, (10) volatile compounds can be sensed to ppb levels, (11) solid state enclosed system, (12) artificial neural network, and (13) polymer library exceeds 30. Foss Food Technology Corp., is the only known source of Aroma Scanner 32 Sensor Array System, to the food industry with all the above minimum salient characteristics. No telephone inquires will be accepted. Interested parties should submit written responses including prices and technical data sufficient to determine capability to meet the entire requirement and must be received in this office within 15 calendar days after publication of this notice. It should be noted that no contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but will be used to determine if a comparable source more advantageous to the Government is available. If no affirmative written responses are received, negotiations will be held with Foss Food Technology Corp., without further notice. This acquisition is being conducted under the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated award date is February 28, 1997. See Note 22.***** (0016)
