The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station is seeking potential sources for a "knob" to hold the faceplate on a through water propulsion system under development by the Navy. Anticipated quantity is 1200 each with delivery 12 months after contract award. The following are the projected characteristics for the knob: (a). Install on 05/16 -- 18 threaded stud. (b) Minimum depth of .59". (c) Lock in place on the stud so it will not back off if surface contact is lost with the faceplate. (d) Installation should require only divers hand to twist the knob on without tools. (e) Corrosion resistant when immersed in salt water for up to four hours. (f) Be capable of operating in 75 feet of sea water. Potential sources should furnish technical literature showing their ability to provide the knobs in the quantities requested.
