Area Communications Systems (PM JTACS) is seeking sources,
availability, and estimated cost information regarding solutions for
tactical Line-of-Sight (LOS) radio systems for use with tactical
switching systems to be procured under the U.S. Army, Area Common User
System -- Modernization Plan (ACUS-MP). The High Capacity
Line-of-Sight (HCLOS) and Short Range Wide Band Radio (SRWBR) systems,
components of the ACUS MP, are of particular interest in this Market
Survey. These radio systems shall include: radios, antennas, cabling,
antenna masts and shall be addressed by the vendor as a complete
system. As part of this market survey, PM JTACS is releasing a draft
technical requirements document to industry. Industry comment is
encouraged. Applicable comments and suggestions may be incorporated
into the final technical requirements specification to be used in the
acquisition process. The responses must include equipment name,
physical specifications, performance characteristics, estimated lead
time from contract award to availability for transportation and
estimated cost and performance characteristics. Submission of an 8"x10"
picture or line drawing is encouraged. Additionally, if not already
included in the performance characteristics, the vendor must provide
the following technical data: Radio Link Budget calculations with
detailed Gain/Loss of each of the system components: Implementation
Loss in dB; Frequency Range; Modulation Type; Type of Coding and Coding
Gain (if applicable);Equalization Data (if applicable); Transmitter
Power Output; Cable Loss in dB; Transmit Spectrum Bandwidth in MHz
between -- 3 dB, -20 dB, and -60 dB points for each data rate; Transmit
Spectrum in MHz containing 99% of energy for each data rate; Receiver
Bandwidth; Radio Receiver Threshold and Theoretical SNR in dB for
1X10-5 BER; Receiver Noise Figure; Receiver Bandwidth in MHz for the -3
dB, -20 dB, and -60 dB points for each data rate; Antenna System 3 dB
beamwidth, Radiation Pattern and Gain; and Antenna Mast System. The
draft technical requirements document for the HCLOS and SRWBR systems
may be obtained from the CECOM Electronic Bulletin Board System, or
