Service contract for the removal, to include identifying, packaging, loading, unloading, transporting, interim storage (if necessary and permissible), and the recycling/ disposal of hazardous/contaminated waste; analysis and the supply of containers at DRMO lajes, azores. Waste must be disposed of in a country which is a signatory to the Basel convention. SP4420-97-R-0004 will be issued on or about 15 Jan 97. Approximate closing date is 14 Mar 97. This solicitation will result in a requirements type contract being awarded to one contractor. This contract will have an 18-MONTH base period and two 12 month option periods. Performance will be requested by issuance of written delivery orders against the basic contract. Qualifications: prospective contractors or subcontractors must be able to meet portuguese environmental laws and regulations, as well as any applicable European union regulations governing identification, packaging, labeling, and placarding of dangerous goods for transportation, and the May 1989 Basel convention on the control of transboundary movements of hazardous waste and their disposal and its amendments.
