MARKET RESEARCH: The Defense National Stockpile Center is conducting a market survey to determine the standard commercial practices of firms engaged in performing asbestos abatement services. DNSC contemplates incorporating these commercial practices into future solicitations dependent upon responses received to the survey. Future solicitations anticipated include: (1) Removal and packaging of 1,952,000 pounds of amosite asbestos. The asbestos is in a free, unpackaged state stored in a tank located at Savanna, Illinois. Dismantling and disposal of the tank will also be required as a part of this acquisition, as well as transportation and disposal of the packaged asbestos in an approved landfill. (2) Removal and packaging of 332,942 pounds of chrysotile asbestos. The asbestos is in a free, unpackaged state stored in a tank located at Louisville, Kentucky. Dismantling and disposal of the tank will also be required as a part of this acquisition, as well as transportation and disposal of the packaged asbestos in an approved landfill. Fixed price contracts are contemplated. Responses to the survey are due by cob February 7, 1997.
