Guarnero, Phone (703)604-2119 The Naval Reserve has a requirement to
procure three (3) aircraft and associated support to replace three of
its existing DC-9/C-9B aircraft, utilizing the $120M provide by
Congress in the FY1997 Appropriations Act. These aircraft are utilized
for the Navy Unique Fleet Essential Airlift (NUFEA) missions. It is
contemplated that the NUFEA Replacement Aircraft (NUFEA-RA) will be
State-of-the-Art, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified,
cargo/transport aircraft modified with essential Navy unique systems.
The Navy intends to trade-in three DC-9/C-9B aircraft and is requesting
information on alternative methods for exchange/trade-in. It is also
the Government's intent to use Commercial Acquisition procedures. The
three NUFEA-RA must be certified in accordance with Federal Aviation
Regulation (FAR) Part 25, Part 34, and Part 36. It is anticipated that
a draft and formal solicitation will be issued by May 1997 and July
1997 respectively. The Navy is requesting that any interested sources
provide written suggestions on alternative logistics support concepts
including training, spares, peculiar support equipment, and data
requirements. In addition, the Navy would like any interested source to
provide general company and product information and provide any
suggestions/ideas regarding best practices for the
procurement/trade-in/logistics support to meet the Navy's requirements.
