Congressional Language from the FY 97 Defense Appropriations Act, the
TARS Program Office requests information regarding various imaging
sensors (Electro-Optical, Infrared, Synthetic Aperature Radar) for use
as possible alternatives to the USN/USMC production EO sensor which is
currently provisioned for the mid-bay of the TARS pod. The mid-bay, or
"second", sensor will be optimized for the vertical and side/oblique
axis. The ultimate program goal for TARS is to obtain all weather,
day/night reconnaissance capability, with a resolution of 1-3" spot
size from a standoff range of 20nm at 20,000 ft AGL. In addition to any
pertinent information your company may provide, the TARS Program Office
is requesting specific information relating to cost, schedule,
performance, risk, results from existing programs, logistics
requirements, use of Government Furnished Property (GFP) and compliance
with environmental regulations. Additional TARS information is
