A -- MAINTENANCE OF A BIOLOGICAL SPECIMEN REPOSITORY SOL NA DUE 030197 POC Joann A. Ciufolo, Contracting Officer, (301) 435-0359 The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute intends to negotiate a sole source procurement under contract to McKesson BioServices, Inc. (N01-HB-17087) to continue the maintenance of the NHLBI biological specimen repository. This contract will be extended for five months to July 31, 1997, and approximately ten freezers will be purchased. A recompetition of the NHLBI repository initiative is ongoing, and an August 1, 1997 date of award is planned for a six-year contract. The authority to use other t han full and open competition is 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as set forth in FAR 6.302-1(b)(1). The incumbent has the unique capability to provide the required space and services to maintain the NHLBI biological specimen repository without the need for relocation and significant disruption.
