COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 24,1997 PSA#1768SWEDEN: THE NOISE AND EXHAUST FUMES PREVENTION FROM OFF-ROAD SCOOTERS
ORDINANCE The following notification is being circulated in accordance
with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.96.434. 1. Member to Agreement
notifying: SWEDEN. If applicable, name of local government involved
(Articles 3.2 and 7.2). 2. Agency responsible: Ministry of the
Environment. Agency or authority designated to handle comments
regarding the notification can be indicated if different from above. 3.
Notified under Article 2.9.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where
applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be
provided in addition, where applicable): Snowmobiles and other off-road
scooters. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified
document: The Noise and Exhaust Fumes Prevention from Off-Road Scooters
Ordinance. 6. Description of content: Snowmobiles and other off-road
scooters placed on the market shall satisfy the following requirements.
Noise: 75 dB(a). Exhaust emissions: carbon monoxide 200, hydrocarbons
80, nitrogen oxides 10 and particles 4.0 g. per kWh. The manufacturer
or his representative in Sweden are responsible for the conformance of
the vehicles with these requirements. 7. Objective and rationale: To
reduce exhaust emissions and noise disturbance from snowmobiles and
other off-road scooters. 8. Relevant documents: The Noise and Exhaust
Fumes Prevention from Off-Road Scooters Act. 9. Proposed date of
adoption: Spring 1997; Proposed date of entry into force: 1 July 1998.
