The Nashville District is issuing a Request for Proposal for rewinding the generator at the J. Percy Priest Power Plant. The J. Percy Priest Power Plant is a one unit plant where the generator is currently rated at 31,111 KVA at 13,800 volts. This project consists of rewinding one existing vertical water wheel driven electric generator, plus other associated work. The complete rewind will involve the removal of the old stator coils; preparing and testing of the new stator coils (prototype and production coils); preparing and testing of the stator; and cleaning and inspecting the generator rotor. The project will also consist of the installation of various accessory electrical equipment, including replacement of some components of the existing on-line monitoring system. The actual tear down and replacement of the coils will be scheduled to start in the July/August 1997 time-frame with all the testing and production of the coils to take place prior to programmed installation period. The principal item(s)of work are: high voltage electrical. The duration of this job is 180 days and is estimated in the $500,000.00 to $1,000,000.00 range. This contract will be a continuing contract where $750,000.00 are available for FY97, but funds are not yet appropriated for the remaining expenses to take place in FY98. This procurement is UNRESTRICTED. Bid documents will be available on or about January 31, 1997 and the only scheduled site visit is set for February 12, 1997 at 10:00 (local time) at the project since this is an unmanned, remote site.
