Contracts Office, Contract@mailserver3.nist.gov. The National Institute
of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a high
performance VME based data acquisition system for the High Flux
Backscattering Spectrometer at NIST's Cold Neutron Research Facility.
This system shall be capable of accumulating 32 channels of 200 MHz ECL
input from a neutron detector system in 10 microsecond intervals with
a 99% or better active duty cycle (1% maximum deadtime interval).
Simultaneously, and at the same 100kHz sampling frequency, this system
shall measure two channels of analog input (0 -- 10 volts) with the
equivalent of 10 bits of resolution (better than 0.1% accuracy) and 1
channel of 8 bit digital ECL I/O. For each sampling event, the data
acquisition system shall make a series of real-time arithmetic
calculations based on the analog input measurements. These calculations
shall be performed by a Motorola 96002 DSP based signal processor.
Based on these calculations the system shall sort the incoming 32
channels of detector data into an array representing the number of
events per detector per energy transfer bin. The system shall also
monitor, in real-time, the 8 bits of digital I/O to determine if the
incoming data is valid and suppress the above data storage if it is
invalid. The system shall provide user control through a computer
interface which includes real-time status information, memory contents
in graphic form, and user control options. Furthermore, the computer
interface shall be capable of receiving control commands and
transmitting data to a host computer via a SCSI/Ethernet interface. The
Contractor shall provide on-site installation and training. Required
delivery 90 days. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which
will be considered by the agency. Solicitation requests should be
submitted in writing to fax number 301-963-7732. (0023) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0300 19970127\66-0003.SOL)
