C -- REPAIR/PAINT WATER TOWERS POC Renate Rainboth, Contracting Officer, 914-838-5263 Engineering firm to provide a complete design to repair/replace and paint two existing water towers. The repairs include replacement of the lightning protection system, installation of additional ladders and railings, modifications to existing passageways, and repairs to the supporting members of the superstructure. CIH services is required to prepare and provide a lead survey report & design of possible abatement. An initial survey will be conducted possible abatement. Ato determine the feasibility of repair verses replacement of the water towers, project #533-97-129. Work to include site visits to verify existing conditions, preliminary plans, working drawings, construction period services and detail cost estimates. Area of consideration is restricted to firms located within a 100 mile radius of VA Medical Center, Castle Point, New York. Estimated construction range is between $500,000 and $1,000,000 dollars. Selection criteria to be used in selecting firms shall be as outlined in FAR 36.602-1 and will include, but is not limited to: a) professional qualifications necessary for satisfactory performance of the required service to include: Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineers with license in NY State, and CAD specialist; b) examples of specialized experience and technical competence in the various disciplines required for the specific project; c) past job experience and performance on Government contracts and private industry in terms of cost control, quality of work, and compliance with performance schedule; d) location of the firm or working office providing professional services, including consultants, within a 100-mile radius of the project site; e) volume of VA work in the past 12 months based on fees received; f) qualifications and performance of sub-consultants proposed for the project; g) computer capabilities, including drawings on AutoCAD Release 12 and Specifications on Mircrosoft Work 6.0. This project is open to both large and small business. Firms desiring consideration shall submit Standard Forms 254 and 255 by COB February 25, 1997. Award is subject to availability of funds.
