EUROPEAN COMMUNITY: DRAFT COMMISSION DIRECTIVE MODIFYING COMMISSION DIRECTIVE 95/12/EC OF 23 MAY 1995 IMPLEMENTING COUNCIL DIRECTIVE 92/75 WITH REGARD TO ENERGY LABELLING OF HOUSEHOLD WASHING MACHINES The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. Description of content: The proposal modifies Commission Directive 95/12/EC of 23 May 1995 in such a way as to temporarily exclude washing machines without an internal heat source from its scope. 7. Objective and rationale: There are a small number of washing machines on the EU market that do not have an internal heat source to heat water, but rely on being filled with hot water. These are included within the scope of Commission Directive 95/12/EC of 23 May 1995, but not within that of the harmonized measurement standard. The draft remedies this fault by excluding such appliances until 30 June 1998, by which time CENELEC should have approved a modified measurement standard. 8.
