JANUARY 1995, THE IMPORT AND REGISTRATION OF VEHICLES TO THOSE EQUIPPED
FOR THE CONSUMPTION OF UNLEADED PETROL The following notification is
being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.96.451.
1. Member to Agreement notifying: MACAU. If applicable, name of local

Macau Economic Services. Agency or authority designated to handle
comments regarding the notification can be indicated if different from
above. 3. Notified under Article 2.10.1. 4. Products covered (HS or
CCCN where applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers
may be provided in addition, where applicable): Motor vehicles disposed
of devices for the exclusive use of unleaded petrol. 5. Title, number
of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Ordinance Defining
Petrol and Restricts, as of Beginning 1 January 1995, the Import and
Registration of Vehicles to Those Equipped for the Consumption of
Unleaded Petrol (3 pages, available in Portuguese). 6. Description of
content: For environmental reasons, this Ordinance aims at bringing
progressively to a minimum, the levels of the pollution emitted from
car exhausts into the atmosphere, through the introduction of unleaded
petrol and establishment of requirements for imports, exports and
registration of vehicles to condition the use of unleaded petrol.
Hence, for purposes of import and registration of vehicles, the
following requirements shall apply: (a) Vehicles to be equipped with
the necessary devices for the exclusive consumption of unleaded petrol.
(For this purpose, it shall be required, and it shall suffice, that
vehicles be equipped with a catalyser); (b) vehicles to be equipped
with a device that prevents access to the petrol tank of nozzles with
an external diameter of 23.6 mm or above. 7. Objective and rationale:
