COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 27,1997 PSA#1769MACAU: OZONE LAYER PROTECTION ORDINANCE AND DECISION ON OZONE LAYER
PROTECTION ORDINANCE (BOTH AVAILABLE IN PORTUGUESE) The following
notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6.
G/TBT/Notif.96.452. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: MACAU. If
applicable, name of local government involved (Articles 3.2 and 7.2).
2. Agency responsible: Macau Environment Office. Agency or authority
designated to handle comments regarding the notification can be
indicated if different from above. 3. Notified under Article 2.10.1. 4.
Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable, otherwise national
tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in addition, where
applicable): Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and halons and certain types of
climatization equipment. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of
the notified document: Ozone Layer Protection Ordinance (5 pages) and
Decision on Ozone Layer Protection Ordinance (5 pages) (both available
in Portuguese). 6. Description of content: The current legislation
aims at reducing progressively the use of substances which may provoke,
when exposed to the atmosphere, the depletion of the ozone layer and
harm the climate, the environment and the public health. Ban on the
following activities: Manufacture of controlled substances, designated
as CFC's and halon as listed in the Annex of the present Ordinance,
which is in compliance with that in the Montreal Protocol; manufacture,
import and export of aerosol containers of any type of controlled
substances, except those originated from or destined to signatories to
the Montreal Protocol. Import and export of the following types of
climate units, which (may) contain controlled substances are subject to
prior authorization requirements. Air-conditioning machines;
refrigerators and other refrigerating or freezing equipment, etc.;
dehumifiers; fire extinguishers. 7. Objective and rationale:

78/95/M of 4 December 1995. 9. Proposed date of adoption: Not
