Description of content: Section 111 of the Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations, which is entitled "Rearview Mirror", specifies the requirements governing the rearview mirrors of all motor vehicles, which include passenger cars, motorcycles, multipurpose passenger vehicles, trucks, and buses. This proposed amendment would introduce new requirements for the rearview mirror systems of school buses, and it would clarify the existing provision that governs the reflectivity of rearview mirrors, the wording of which may give the impression that the use of electrochromic mirrors is not permitted. In addition, Section 111 has been reorganized and its language revised in order to make it easier to understand. The requirements for the rearview mirrors of all vehicles other than school buses would remain unchanged. 7. Objective and rationale: Protection of human safety. 8. Relevant documents: Canada Gazette, Part I, 28 September 1996. 9. Proposed date of adoption: Not stated; Proposed date of entry into force: Not stated. 10. Final date for comments: 27 December 1996. 11. Text available from: National enquiry point. (0023)
