MEXICO: DRAFT MEXICAN OFFICIAL STANDARD NOM-021-ECOL-1996, REQUIREMENTS CONCERNING LEACHING TESTS FOR SOLIDIFIED RADIOACTIVE WASTE SPECIMENS The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Draft Mexican Official Standard NOM-021-ECOL-1996, Requirements Concerning Leaching Tests for Solidified Radioactive Waste Specimens (5 pages, in Spanish). 6. Description of content: The purpose of the Standard is to establish the requirements for conducting water leaching tests on solidified low-level radioactive waste specimens. The qualification of the leaching characteristics of lumps of solidified radioactive waste calls for a practical and standardized methodology capable of determining the capacity of such specimens to remain within the radionuclide emission limits upon contact with water.
