proposed procurement. The Federal Aviation ministration (FAA),
Western-Pacific Region, under the FAA Acquisition Management System
(FAAAMS) hereby publicly announces its intention to contract for
installation of Government Furnished Engine/Generator, Automatic
Transfer Switch/Bypass Isolation Switch, and Load Bank with control
panel and related/associated work for Runway 24R, ALSF-2, at the Los
Angeles Internatioal Airport in Los Angeles, California. The estimated
dollar range for this procurement is between $25,000 to $100,000. Work
includes, but is not limited to, demolition and salvage/disposal
(according to project plans, specifications and terms and conditions)
of existing engine generator, transfer switch, and load bank, other
electrical, demolition, piping and miscellaneous work as specified by
and in strict accordance with project plans, specifications, and terms
and conditions. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code for
this project is: 1731. It is anticipatedthat Request For Offer (RFO)
DTFA08-97-Q-03676, will be issued on or about February 3, 1997 with
responses due 14 calendar days after actual date of issuance. Requests
for a solicitation package MUST IDENTIFY THE SOLICITATION NUMBER and
should be made in WRITING to the address above or via FACSIMILE to
(310) 536-8550. VERBAL/TELEPHONIC REQUEST WILL NOT BE HONORED.
Solicitations will be issued to up to three (3) Pre-Qualified Vendors
and up to seven (7) additional vendors from requests received no later
than February 10, 1997. Requests for solicitation will NOT be issued
to more than ten (10) vendors and any requests received past February
10, 1997, regardless of method transmitted, will not be honored. This
notice BELOW is for informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned
and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of
Transportation (DOT), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business
Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts.
This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier.
The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid,
payment, and performance bonds up to 1.0 million per contract. The DOT
provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against
losses. Loans are also available under the DOT Short Term Lending
Programs (STLP), at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable
financing. The maximun line of credit is $500,000. For further
