C -- DESIGN REPLACE FIRE ALARM PROJECT, DOWNTOWN DIVISION DUE 030397 POC Contracting Officer, Mary T. Crace, 706-731-7173 The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia, requires Architect Engineer services for the design of Project 509-97-140, Replace Fire Alarm, Downtown Division. Services shall include100% design, specifications, drawings, construction cost estimate and construction period services. Firms must have and demonstrate experience in design and contract document preparation for the installation of fire alarm systems, especially in a hospital setting. Firms must have registered electrical and fire protection engineers with expertise in this area on their team. Firms must be able to provide specifications on 3 1/2" floppy disks in word perfect version 5.0 and original reproducible drawings on 3 1/2" floppy disks in autocad R12. Evaluation factors include, but are not limited to the following: (1) professional qualifications necessary for satisfactory performance of required services; (2) specialized experience and technical competence in the type of work required; (3) capacity to accomplish the work in the required time; (4) past performance on contracts with Government agencies and private industry in terms of cost control, quality of work and compliance with performance schedules; (5) location in the general geographical area of the project and knowledge of the locality of the project; (6) demonstrated success in prescribing the use of recovered material and achieving waste reduction and energy efficiency in facility design; and (7) acceptability under other appropriate evaluation criteria. Area of consideration is restricted to firms within a 75 mile radius of Augusta, Georgia. The estimated cost of construction is between $250,000 and $500,000.
