The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to enter into a sole-source contract with Tag Engineering of Riverhead, NY for the services of Mr. Barry Karlin to provide specialized support necessary for the repair, maintenance, and improvement of the X-24A X-Ray Beamline in the National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, NY. Additionally, Mr. Karlin will also provide safety training and beamline operational training to beamline users and will monitor beamline operations. The beamline is a piece of complex equipment and its operation and maintenance requires a detailed knowledge of its construction and significant prior experience. Mr. Karlin has operated the beamline for the past fifteen (15) years and was involved in the construction of beamline. As such, he is uniquely qualified to meet the Agency's requirement. The contract will be effective from the date of award through 30 September 1997 with two (2) one year option periods. NIST anticipates awarding an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Responses shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bonafide capability to fulfill the requirement.
