R -- SPECIALIZED SAMPLE ANALYSIS CONTRACTS POC Lois Brockson, Contract Negotiator (407) 494-2026/John Moore, Contracting Officer (407) 494-6217 The 45th Contracting Squadron intends to negotiate two contracts on a sole source basis with GE Nuclear Energy (GENE), San Jose CA, and McCrone Associates Inc (MA), Westmont IL, on behalf of the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC), Materials Directorate, to process and analyze particle samples for the purpose of nuclear test ban treaty verification. These sole source acquisitions are justified under 10 USC2304(c)(1), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Evaluation of each contractor's unique capabilities and acquisition history concluded that the specialized effort required for each contract is available from only one source. The program will be a multi-year effort. Contractor personnel require DoD security clearances of at least the SECRET level and participation requires both a facilities and storage capability security clearance of at least SECRET. The SIC for this acquisition is 8731 and small business size standard is 500 employees. No solicitation document exists. The 45th Contracting Squadron has determined that GENE and MA are the only sources capable of providing the necessary services. See Numbered Note 22. (0028)
