FROM CONTRACTORS INTERESTED IN BEING PLACED ON A PREQUALIFIED
CONTRACTORS LIST FOR A MAJOR REPAIR AND ALTERATION PROJECT AT THE
MILWAUKEE WI GENERAL MAIL FACILITY. SOL 193045-97-A-0029 DUE 032897 POC
Joseph L. Harvey, 913/831-1855 ext. 444 This is a Notice of Intent to
Solicit written expressions of interest from contractors desiring to be
placed on a prequalified contractor list for a major repair and
alteration project at the Milwaukee WI General Mail Facility. The
estimated construction cost is $4,000,000 to $6,500,000. The work
involves reconstructing the concrete floor in an elevated maneuvering
area of approximately 150,000 SF and reconstructing the concrete floor
in the vehicle maintenance area of approximately 30,000 SF. Other
related work is included. The work will be accomplished in multiple
phases over a period of time as required to minimize the effect on mail
processing operations. A more detailed description of the work is
included in the prequalification package. In order to be prequalified,
contractors will be evaluated on the following criteria as listed in
the prequalification package with maximum points assigned to each item:
(a) Related construction experience (50), (b) financial capabilities
including financial report (10), (c) project staffing (5), (d) quality
control program (5), (e) safety program (5), (f) capacity (5), (g)
references (5), (h) previous postal projects of similar size and scope
(5), (i) project management and scheduling system (5), (j)
contractor's geographical location relative to the above noted area
(5). Interested firms must complete a "Prequalification Package" which
will be available at no charge on or about February 28, 1997.
Completed packages must be received in this office by close of business
March 28, 1997. Prequalification Packages may be obtained upon written

66202-4171. Submittals must be in the approved USPS Contractor
Prequalification Format as contained in the prequalification package.
Failure to submit requested information in the required format may be
a cause for rejection of entire prequalification request. Evaluations
will be based on the information the contractor supplies in the
"Prequalification Package". Total submittal package shall be limited to
50 single sided or 25 double sided pages including brochures and
promotional material. Prequalification statements will be evaluated by
a committee of Postal Service Architectural, Engineering and
procurement professionals. All firms will be provided with written
notification of prequalification status within sixty (60) days of
receipt of their application. Firms selected as being the most
qualified will be placed on the prequalification list for a period of
one year. Actual workload will depend on Postal Service requirements.
All firms submitting offers will be notified in writing of the results
of the evaluations. The prequalification statements will not be
