COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 31,1997 PSA#1773Assistant Commander for Contracts, Naval Air Systems Command, AIR 2.5.3
Bldg 3189 Unit 8, NAS, Patuxent River, MD 20670-5449 B -- C-2A(R) OUTER WING PANEL FATIGUE TEST POC Contact Donna Guenther,
AIR-2.5.3.4, (301) 342-3937/Contracting Officer, Robert L. Hults, (301)
342-3937. The objective of this synopsis is to seek interested sources
with the capability and expertise to perform a full scale fatigue test
of the C-2A(R) Outer Wing Panel with flight, ground and thermal
compressive loads applied utilizing a Navy supplied Outer Wing Panel.
The outer wing panels experience compressive strains due to the
temperature gradients induced by the impingement of engine exhaust on
the lower surface with wings in the folded position. The thermal
compressive strains would be applied by duplicating the actual
isotherms and strain measurements. Test flight and ground conditions as
well as isotherms and thermal strain measurements will be provided by
the Navy. The task will include test setup, conducting the test, data
measurement, periodic non-destructive testing inspection, recording,
reporting and partial disassembly of the outer wing panel with
metallurgical evaluation of approximately 10,000 hole layers of the
test article to inspect for anomalies. Testing of 20,000 equivalent
flight hours is required and testing to 30,000 equivalent flight hours
is desired. The effort requires the ability to enhance and repair the
outer wing panel in order to meet its target fatigue life. (0029) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0025 19970131\B-0005.SOL)
