San Diego Unified School District is the eighth largest urban school district in the United States. With a student population of more than 122,000, encompassing over 180 sites, it is the second largest school district in the state of California. The District intends to issue a Request for Proposal to provide the San Diego Unified School District with a qualified vendor to replace a myriad of manual and batch-oriented processes within the Human Resources Department with an integrated system that will manage information about the district employees in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. The goal focuses on a basic structure that will manage the personnel, payroll, benefits and other employment information about the people who work within the District in order to: Facilitate recruitment planning and applicant tracking. Authorize employment positions and assignments. Maintain information on credentials and certificates necessary for employment. Collect time keeping information in an efficient and timely manner. Prepare pay warrants and supporting documentation. Support employee and retiree benefits and compensation programs. Provide for fiscal controls and financial management, including budger development. Meet reporting and auditing requirements. Insure easy access and maintenance of information within adequate security controls. The system must be capable of being easily revised and upgraded to meet changing Government and District requirements. There will be a proposal conference (optional) on February 11, 1997.
